The rise of Nick Swisher.

Nick Swisher is a very likable guy. He plays the game hard, looks like he's having a lot of fun and up until last year he has always been very productive. In his first 3 full seasons with the Oakland A's he averaged 26 home runs, 82 RBI's and 84 walks. All this while playing every position in the outfield and first base. You never heard Swisher say anything bad about his teammates or be a negative distraction on the team, the consummate professional.

In 2008 Swisher joined the Chicago White Sox in hopes of bolstering their already formidable lineup. It didn't quite work out that way, Swisher finished the season batting .219 while only driving in 69 and striking out 135 times. This off season the Yankees took a chance on him hoping that he could be a handy utility player to come off the bench. Swisher got his chance to start on a regular basis and grabbed that opportunity with both hands and hasn't let go. He's batting over .300 with 7 home runs and 19 RBI's in just over 20 games. He's fourth in the American League in Home runs, 7th in RBI's, 5th in runs, 4th in doubles and 2nd in slugging percentage. It's safe to say Nick Swisher is making his way back and all us baseball fans are very happy about that.
