Mariano Rivera's 500th save, how did he do it?

Mariano has 1 pitch his cut fastball and somehow he has managed to be one of the best closers and one of the best postseason pitchers ever. A perfect example on how he has managed this was last night while closing out his 500th save. In the bottom of the ninth Rivera was brought in with two runners on and two outs with a 1 run lead, he proceeded to strike out the one batter he faced.

In the top of the Ninth against Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez, Rivera fouled off a few pitches and was able to draw a bases loaded walk to record his first ever RBI and stretching the lead to two runs. That is why he is lights out, he has pinpoint control and his 1 pitch is one of the best in the game. He also doesn't panic and doesn't throw his arms in the air and jump around after every save, all 500 of them.
