Michael Crabtree getting closer to signing with 49ers.

The 49ers went into Phoenix on Sunday and knocked of the defending NFC champions without their number one draft pick. 49er players that talked to Crabtree after the game sensed some anxiety in his voice and indications are Crabtree is reconsidering the offer the 49ers left on the table for him in training camp.

It would be nice for the 49ers to get him into the mix. He is an incredibly talented wide out and I don't see how it could hurt. I also don't see how it could help much. The 49ers best offensive lineup is when they have their ace formation on the field. The ace includes two tight ends, one running back and two wide receivers.

The 49ers already have two receivers. One is Issac Bruce who is a veteran and is their best receiver by far. The other is Josh Morgan who was a late round pick last year that the Niners are very high on. I'm sure over time Crabtree will over take one if not both of these receivers but I don't see how he helps them now. The 49ers will also be running the ball a ton this season.

Ultimately the 49ers need to sign this guy, you can't have a top 10 pick and have nothing to show for it. Also Crabtree needs to get in a jersey as soon as he can, if he waits for next years draft he will be drafted even later and will receive even less money. Just don't expect Crabtree to slip on the red and gold and all of a sudden Shaun Hill is putting up Peyton Manning numbers.
